COVID-19 RESPONSE

These are trying times where many within our church body, our neighborhoods, and our city are suffering.

If you or someone you know is now facing sudden financial difficulties, requires assistance with basic needs (grocery shopping, picking up medication, laundry service, other essential needs), or could in any other way benefit from the Agape Initiative, please consider filling out the application form below.

For those in a position to give, we ask that you would prayerfully consider how you might generously give out of what God has abundantly given to you.

I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to give more than we can spare. In other words, if our expenditure on comforts, luxuries, amusements, etc, is up to the standard common among those with the same income as our own, we are probably giving away too little. Agape Initiative

Here at Hope East Village, we hold several values that shape the foundation of our church. Two of these values are Living Generously and Living Communally. We believe in building authentic communities and walking alongside one another through joys and through difficulties. This includes being stewards of God’s gifts and giving back out what God has generously given to us, so that we may experience His great glory.

One way in which we live out the values of generosity and community is through our Agape Initiative.

Within Christianity, agape is considered to be the love originating from God or Christ for humankind. In the New Testament, it refers to the covenant love of God for humans, as well as the human reciprocal love for God; the term necessarily extends to the love of one's fellow man.¹

This Initiative is to minister to individuals or families during a time of hardship or crisis by temporarily supporting them with basic needs, care support, and skills building.

How To Receive

Fill out the application using whichever method is most convenient:

Google Form - Complete the application and click Submit.
PDF - Email the completed application to the Transitional Leadership Team (hopeevtlt@gmail.com).

How To Give

We encourage every member of the Hope East Village community to consider how they might love their local body of Christ through the gifts that God has blessed them with. These gifts include skills and finances but also able bodies and listening ears.

1. To contribute financially to the Agape Initiative, follow the instructions at our Giving page.

If giving through our online portal, select “Agape Initiative” in the drop-down tab.
If giving through any other means, either denote “Agape Initiative” in the comment/memo or notify hopeevfinance@gmail.com.

2. To join the volunteer group offering Care Support or Skills Building, complete the Volunteer Sign-Up form.
