Extending Hope is an opportunity at the end of each year for our church to tangibly practice our value of living generously, by taking the time to give to specific causes above and beyond our normal giving.

Our goal is to raise $22,000 total, with every dollar donated being matched up to $11,000.

RECEIVED: $1,640

TOTAL: $22,000

Below you will find the causes that we will be giving to this year.

InterVarsity at NYU & Brooklyn College

(Emily Yung & Jordan Varghese)

InterVarsity in NYC seeks to establish and advance witnessing communities in every corner of every campus so that all students (and faculty) can experience the love of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Support the Kingdom work that Emily Yung and Jordan Varghese are doing to labor for the Kingdom of God on the campuses of NYU and Brooklyn College.

Abounding Grace Church

Each year we want to give to a local church in our neighborhood as a way of partnering together for the work of the Kingdom of God. This year we will be supporting Abounding Grace Church.

GOLES (Good Old Lower East Side)

GOLES is a neighborhood housing and preservation organization that has served the Lower East Side of Manhattan since 1977. They are dedicated to tenants’ rights, homelessness prevention, economic development, and community revitalization. GOLES’ long-term goals are to:

  1. Build the power of low-income residents to address displacement and gentrification;

  2. Preserve and expand the low-income housing stock;

  3. Assert community self-determination over the use of public space; and

  4. Ensure a clean and healthy environment where people live, work, and play.

Sarah Powell Huntington House

Sarah Powell Huntington House (SPHH) is WPA’s (Women’s Prison Association) homeless shelter for formerly incarcerated and at-risk women and their children. Since 1993, this unique residence has given recently reunified families the chance to access services designed to promote long-term health, stability, and self-sufficiency.  WPA staff work with families to achieve goals such as securing safe and stable housing, enrolling in school, seeking employment, finding a healthcare provider, and managing the full range of day-to-day household and family challenges.  Kids get homework help and recreational activities through WPA’s youth services.
